finally the Potsdamer Platz is almost 'ready': between the Debis-Building and
the Sony-Center you can witness hectic business people running from their lunch
breaks to their offices as well as relaxed tourists taking pictures of each other.
And finally it's about the time to post some of the pictures I took of the Potsdamer
Platz
These pictures are actually only the beginning of a larger renovation / re-organization
my "photo-archives" and I will be facing in the next months years..:]
For now I at least found some almost forgotten pictures of Potsdamer Platz slowly
growing - and finally glowing. Some of the early pictures I took with my first
digital camera, the 'Olympus Camedia'. The newer, more shiny ones were made with
our 'Nikon CoolPix', some of the close-ups were again taken by Nii,,
..enjoy..
By night the Potsdamer Platz is glwing in the dark: especially the glass facades
of the Sony-Center (sometimes also called 'Mount Fuji') and the "Train-Tower"
are illuminated rather heavily, but also the other buildings shine on..
also the not-so-ovious details such as this garage entrance are well designed
at the Sony-Center
the glass facade of the Sony-Centers mirrors its surroundings: here it's a smaller
building of the 'Philharmonie'
1999: slowly the two tower grow: Renzo Piano's 'glass peak' and Hans Kollhoff's
"Gotham-Tower" with its brick-covered facade semmed to race with eachover
for some time - but then Kollhoff's tower won.. and for now it's the highest building
at Potzdamer Platz.
one of the last pictures of the Infobox - which used to be probably one of the
most popular sights back in the times when the Potsdamer Platz wasn't ready yet..
