Berlin Wallpaper: Winter '05-'06 - sledge riding at Mauerpark (#4/8)
"guten Rutsch!" is what you say in german before New Year's Eve. Literally it would mean something like "have a jolly good slide" and I suppose it refers to the moment when you 'slide' into the next year..
"guten Rutsch!" also had a quite direct meaning this year: a couple of days ago it started snowing - like it didn't snow in Berlin for years - perfect for getting the good old sledge out of the basement - and slide down what ever you can slide down in Berlin.. for example the little hill in the Mauerpark.. (picture was already taken on 30.12.2005) |
